Just thought i would send a match report of the Springfield Sprint
Triathlon Monday 04/05/2009.
Well how do i start firstly i nearly turned up on the wrong day got up arly Sunday morning sat eating breakfast and for some reason i decided to check the web site and that's when i realised it was on Monday doh! Anyway i got up on Monday morning and went to pick-up a very nervous Roy before we went to registration we had a drive around the bike course just to show Roy what to expect which seemed a good idea at the time until we got to the big hill which we had to go up twice.
We then registered and racked the bikes and got changed then went to the pool viewing area to watch the earlier waves go off this seemed to give Roy a lift and he started to settle down and look forward to starting.
I went off first my swim went ok there was two in my lane who must of put the wrong times down because they lapped me twice but i stuck to my game plan of not going off to fast which paid off because i caught the 4th member of our wave with two to go but decided to just draft him.I wasted sometime getting out of the water because he stood on the edge of the pool and i could get out so a quiet word in his shell like moved him on.
I felt really good in T1 thanks to Sarah making my swimming less energy sapping even though time was 16 seconds slower than last year. Once on the bike i was flying the second lap seemed to go quicker than the first it was great to see Billy and Clare on the bike course cheering us on really made a difference my bike time was 43.06 which was 3mins 8secs quicker than last year so well chuffed.
T2 was 7secs slower than T1 don't know what happened there.
The run went great and was 1min 2secs quicker than last year i even manage a sprint finish with Billy and Clare cheering me home.
I finished 1hr 14mins 58secs 2 mins 3secs quicker than last year.
Roy finished in 1hr 28mins 18secs i have never seen anyone so happy after finishing he totally enjoyed every minute of it.
