It was great fun! We really enjoyed it ….well me and Penny did anyway! Julie had a crash near Compton Bassett – some guy went into her and sent her into the hedge and she was a little shaken up by that. Pretty much everyone that overtook us commented on the socks…perhaps it will be a new trend in cycling!!! The support was great – it was great to see Sarah and Phil…we thought you might pop up somewhere along the route and it was so funny to see the sign and the two of you with your sun hats in the deck chairs. I’m sure you were reading a good book whilst you were waiting for us!!!

Food stops were great and all our other stops – we are with Ian and Rick with the food – We had loads of food, flapjacks, gels, the lot and also a support car that brought us more…I think in total we stopped for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

We were familiar with the hills so no surprises but we also were really pleased to find out at Uffington that it was 90 miles and not 96…so we gained 6 miles in about 3 seconds. Poor Julie had a knee problem and got up all the hills including Uffington where she could only use one leg. I was pretty impressed as I definitely needed both legs at that point!!

Highs

Getting up all the hills

The weather was perfect – not too hot or windy and no rain couldn’t have wished for more

Not coming last – crossed the line together (beat 4 people).

The last 3 miles were down hill

Getting to the top of Springhill (Ramsbury) and Uffington.

Seeing Sarah and Phil …that was fantastic and really made me chuckle!

Not having to wait long for the toilets – advantage of having only 46 women (Whilst us ladies were waiting we commented that it smelt like the mens - it was hilarious when 2 very sheepish men appeared and apologized!!!)

No aches and pains

Lows

None for me

Great day out – would really recommend it to all. Will definitely do it again next year.
