I'd thought I share with you all a wonderful old swimming pool that Jackie and I found yesterday.
Stowform Manor Farm has one of the country's last river swimming clubs which occupies a pleasant, deep but narrow stretch of the Frome above a weir. Lawns and steps into the water, about 1-2.5m deep with gravelly bed. There is a car park in a field very close by, also changing huts and portaloos.
So take off those wetsuits and give it a try, the water is fresh water, so it is very cold, makes lake 32 seem like a bath. But you'll see nobody here wearing wetsuits.
It's tucked away so I'll share with you all how to get there:
Head towards Farleigh Hungerford on the A366 from Trowbridge. The field is through a gate on the left, at the corner before the two humpback bridges. Drive across the field and park. Occasionally there is a club member who will take a fee, but otherwise park up and enjoy the cool running waters.
