Went really well! Weather was great and it was all very amicable with a bunch of ladies! Swim was manic at the start – I don’t think anything can prepare you for your first open water mass start – I think I probably did a good drowning impression for the first 300m! I was really giddy getting out – I got out of the water just before Penny so I don’t know what I was doing on the way to the table where you hand in your chip – falling around I think!!

Good practice of transition using cleats. I was pleased with my run time. We all raced separately but amazingly came in around the same time. Overall, a good first for open water triathlon but definitely need a lot more practice in the lake. We managed to get ourselves into the Swindon Advertiser so look out for us!!! --- Margo

My race was a 400m swim, 20k bike and 2.5k run at Cotswold - although we were spotted tucking into our panini fairly early on this morning at the cafe back at the Outdoor shop, and then back home by 10.30 am to start the day - it's amazing how long a day is when you get up at 6am, do a bit of a short distance,  and then are too tired to contemplate much else - am ready for the sofa with the greatest of respect for you guys. Also hugely impressed by my fellow ladies who tackled the grown-ups distance at S Cerney, unlike myself - although I was hugely impressed to now be a Vet and so took it easy as my age required.... ...am now planning my Marlborough strategy and wondering whether a disguise will help to keep incognito on my walking shuffle for the 5 mile run......... .
