Hi MAD law abiding triathlettes
I thought you might be interested in this, could save you a fine and points on your licence.
On Monday night I was cycling through the one way system in Chippenham, as I came down New Road to the railway arches, the traffic lights turned red. Being the care free urban cycling hooligan I am, I looked through the pedestrian arch, saw there was no one walking through, cycled up the dropped kerb, through the arch and back onto the road.
You all know what happens next, suddenly there are sirens and flashing lights behind me, yes one of British's finest crime catcher, sees my little trick, and chases after me, driving through the red light against the oncoming traffic and skids to a halt besides me - all very unnecessary!
Anyway out jumps the most aggressive Copper you could ever meet, I swear that if my tires had looked a bit flat, he would have had his hand cuffs on me. Then proceeds to read me the riot act. I was very apologetic and grovelling like you wouldn't think possible.
The Copper was having none of it, clearly down on his quota of criminal convictions for the month.
So he tells me he is going to fine me £80 and take three points off my licence.
Just as he got his note book out, I was saved - down the road, through the traffic arch, this time, against the red light came another cyclist - Chippenham must be full of criminals!
The Copper jumped out into the road and stopped the guy. This guy wasn't at all happy and started F'ing and Blinding the Copper, he was extremely aggressive and going for it big time with his hale of abuse.
The guy on the bike was trying to cycle off and the Copper was holding onto his handle bars, I though any minute now I'm going to be on Police Camera Action.
The Copper obvious thought he had his first arrest of the evening brewing nicely and decided I was a small fry criminal compared to his new captive - so great news for me, he gave me the ' on your way sonny Jim, nothing to see here', I didn't need to be told twice and shot off - keeping within the speed limit of course.
Motto of story - check for Coppers first before breaking the law. Maybe I missed the point! Open to other's views on that.
