Sunny and not too cold or windy. The kids and I arrived to see Colin manfully counting off his 40 lengths and then making a dash for the great outdoors. He was in the first wave and so as he exited the pool about third it was a very lonely course - another couple had got out earlier but the pool was half empty with those who stayed in bed, and so most of his run was on his own. I did what I had to and managed to run the whole way (!) well except for the sand dunes but no-one runs those, and even managed a sprint for the hordes on my triumphant run back to the finish. Numbers noticeable very much down, very relaxed lots of chat in transition and some fantastic fish and chips afterwards. colin now waiting for the AA man to recover his car which borke down whilts I was trying to do some retail therapy on the way off the motorway going to Cribbs Causeway - has saved us a fortune. His ETA home is not for some time to come.
Oh, and I managed to fall off a pavement into the road and really hurt my knee - well my pride mostly! It looked rather a comic sight to see grown woman plus 2 dogs sprawled in the road!
Have a look at the Brunham on Sea town website - Colin features on most of the photos including the front page one - thank god none of me. Sunny day, blue sky - I even ran the whole way - other than uphill through the sand dunes - a great early season event with plenty of chat in transition and 'Good mornings' all around the run route!
