What a great morning! Sod the rain!

Well done all at the Mad-tri this morning. Hope you all enjoyed the mad-wave. Only have provisional results so far. Congratulations to Chris Rhodes won the event and Brian Nicol won his age group. Steve Scammell looks to have taken the club trophy for most improved athlete.

====================================
Well done all, especially Chris, Brian & Steve for respective wins!

I had a great time, the early start was a bit of a swine, but being amoungst the MAD wave more than made up for it.  A 7:49 swim for me?! - a new pb I think; who would have believed the human brick could go so fast???  Must have been the fear of god at having been sent of first and waiting for the rest of the lane to pounce!!!

====================================

Hi All,

Hope you all enjoyed your events yesterday and the challenging weather (UK based) and the suntans (Nice and nice based bodies.)

Many thanks to all spectators who braved the weather in their winter woolies - Theresa, Jacquie, Penny with her lumpy calve and family, Mr. Pash and girls, Catherine, Ros, Harriet and James - looking forward to seeing the photos!  Did we look focused or just damp??

This year's event was the most sociable I have ever gone to play at. It was great seeing everyone en
route.  I hope all the heavy breathing I heard yesterday was an indication of the amount of a) work or b)suffering that was happening behind me.

My fun time at Marlborough included...

Everyone's swim time was faster than last year's - yippee!

Leaving T1 first!

Getting to the top of Hack pen hill.....

Getting to the bottom of hackpen hill intact - step on it Steve!

Chatting to the boys as they went past. And as I went past. And as they really did go past....

Seeing Penny at Avebury!

Hugh's shout from the bike as I set on on my run! And Ian's. And Lucy's. And Lucy's. Phil's thumbs. Niall's
shout.

My legs finally woke up near the top of the hill!

Coming home and seeing us all out on the run leg - and safe in from the bike.

Watching us coming home!

Loved Lucy P's back to front shorts - match my back to front and inside out t-shirt.

Liked colin's thorough transition including the rub down with the towel in the rain.

The mystery object in Phil's running shoe which had impeded progress, was a half eaten power bar from goodness knows when!!

Things I'd do differently next time...

Hide my running shoes under something if it's raining.  Interesting having soggy socks and swimming into
sodden shoes.

Have a total gear check and tweak before the big day.

Learn to do the shoes on the bike thing....

Remember the flapjacks in the car for sharing!

I'm at Bath next - bring it on!

=============================

Me again - It was a great morning out, despite the rain AND locking my kit in an ‘unopenable’ locker 1 minute before race briefing with my goggles on the inside! Next time I’ll read the A4 size sign saying ‘LOCKER OUT OF ORDER, DO NOT USE’.    Like Sarah I’ll also be at Bath . Is anyone else doing that one? It’s a very long swim for me.

Best wishes all. Hugh

Time to kill so here's my experience.. .

1. Didn't fancy the 7am start, but it was really great to have all the MAD-Tri'ers around.
2. Worst swim ever - but not being near a pool for 3 weeks is not good training.
3. Tri training camp "Le Mans weekend" is not good prep either!
4. Need someone to chase on the bike (thanks Lucy) otherwise my pace drops off
5. Good run (for me) - just great to have the knee holding up so well; just need to get back to my fighting weight now!
6. Having "powerbar" Phil chasing me on the run kept me going.
7. Have to catch Hugh next year...
8. Great to get home and follow how the Nice guys were doing

All-in-all a great tri. Thanks to Phil & Sarah for sorting out the MAD-Tri wave.

Niall.
