It was wet & windy for the springfiled sprint this morning!
Swim was ok - I'm not sure how they arranged the starting times, but lanes looked very mixed - I saw
folk tumble turning and swimming throuhg/over those who were happy chugging along... I also overheard a number of guys saying they only swam 14 lengths, but none said they insisted on doing the extra 2! At one point I thought Steve or Billy must be in my lane as my feet were being tapped so hard, and I also had to stop at one point as we were three abreast in the lane and all looking to overtake, or somethign like that. All l in all a very average swim and ai struggled to get settled so it was all over before it began.
T1 - well, no point rushing... I took the time to put on socks and a top, and was pleased I did as the the
bike was very windy, and very wet. Box hill was hard going [downhill!]. The road was also very bumpy.
However once you turned to go up hill and were out of the wind it was quite nice. I took it quite steady,
expecially on the bends as it looked quite slippy.
T2 - still not rushing mmmm, nice dry socks for me! I was pleased with having nice cosy feet for the run
that I forgot to take my helment off and had to run back to dump it... doh! I really enjoyed the run.
Met up with Billy at the end who was looking like fresh as a daisy - I think he started after me,
but I didn't here any shouts on the course so can only assume he was very fish like in the pool!!!
All in all I'm glad I did get out of bed, it was tempting to stay at home - and it's taken me ages
to clean my bike. Dry riding only for a few more weeks for me!!!! but I enjoyed it.
I forgot to start my watch in the pool and forgot to stop it at the end - results are out tomorrow I think,
I did try to seek out the other mad-triers, but it didn't get to say hello - how did you get on? --- Ian

It was fantastic - I really enjoyed it!! And a very sunny morning it was too - if the constant rain wasn't enough the wind facing us going down Boxhill was really tough!
So the swim was great until I went to get out and then I remembered what you said about the lip on the pool - I wondered what you you were going on about at the time .....I couldn't get out - a bit embarrassing!!! The cycle was really tough in the weather conditions - our only downhill was against a strong wind. The run was good - me and Julie finished together at 1 hour 43 with Penny close behind.
It was a great event - only 200 competitors and I must say I didn't feel intimidated at all by the more serious athletes. No major embarrassments at transition but I am not sure why I bothered with the towel!!! The sun came out about an hour after we finished!!!
It was really good fun and I am looking forward to the next one!! ......Margo
