Chris Rhodes is preparing himself for an assault on the European Triathlon Championships this summer. Rhodes, just 26, will travel to Copenhagen in June to take part in the event, and is already targeting gold.  The land agent, from East Grafton, said "In the last three years I have got bronze and silver but last time I didn't get anything, so I am putting everything in to getting that gold medal in my age group. I am already getting nervous because I am putting a lot of emphasis on it"  For his training, he is taking part in the Fast Twitch Triathlon series, where he has already finished second in Hungerford and first at Tidworth (where he won some socks).  Rhodes completed the 400 mtr swim, 15 mile bike and 4.5 mile run in just one hour eight minutes and 55 seconds, just 12 seconds ahead of Billy Hilman from the Royal Navy. "It was a sprint finish in the last 100 meters2 he said. "The run is always tough at Tidworth because it is up hill after the bike and I was hanging on for the last mile. I am a strong swimmer so the short swim didn't realy work in my favour." Rhodes, who will be in Dorchester for his next race admitted he is hooked on the endurance sport and thrives on the competition.  he said "Even if I wasn't training I would still be there because you have to support the local events. When I am not competing in these races I know I should give it up, because that's how much of a buzz I get. I just love running."
