Dear Members,
A slightly belated but never the less heartfelt THANKS to the 20 of you who took the time to fill in and return one of our questionnaires in the past month. The committee got together last week to review them - it was great to have some feedback and your responses are already proving helpful in terms of our planning for this year's activities and apportionment of club funds.
E-Mails and web-site information will be coming out shortly regarding 2007 events and activities (including swim videoing and bike maintenance, "target events" with a tri-a-tri preparation session and an end-of-pool- swimming social) but, for now, here's a quick summary of your feedback...
Top reasons for getting into triathlon -
- I used to be a runner and fancied some variety and less injury
- Wanted to get fitter and/or support a partner.
Top reasons for joining MAD TRI
- Club seemed friendly
- Needed help with my swimming
- Local
What people enjoyed most about MAD TRI in 2006 (in order)
- Saturday swims
- Advice and support
- Company when training and racing/camaraderie
- Open water swimming
- Cycle day
- Time trials
What members wanted help with in 2007
- Cycling (and bike maintenance)
- Swimming (coaching and video)
- Transitions
- Running
Goals for 2007 - variety ranging from "complete my first event" to New Forest Middle Distance - and Ironman France. A number of you were focused on your first open water event this summer.
Requested Club Activities
- Open Water Swimming
- Running day
- Videoing of swimming (is videoing still a term in use - swim DVD'ing then!!!)
- Social events
Also helpful were the number of people who said "more of the same please!!"
Use of Club Funds
- Turbo trainers (Phew! We must be on the right track then - the club has just bought a "club-turbo")
- Subsidised kit and merchandise with club logo
- Use of running track
- Social events
Special thanks to...
- The respondent who offered to coach hip-hop - personally I'd be very keen
- The person who admitted the club email got them through boring days at work!
- The huge number of people commending the club spirit and friendliness
- The feedback on the web-site - people use it but mainly for photos and events information.
We're pleased that MAD TRI seems to be fulfilling the triathlon needs of most of the members and really want to ensure that we continue to do so - please keep the feedback coming.
Good Luck with everything you set out to do in 2007 and hopefully the club can help you achieve your ambitions.
Best Wishes
Abi (on behalf of the Committee)
